Export TEUs Climb Slightly at Long Beach, But Traffic Remains Weak
December 16, 2009The monthly container cargo count at the Port of Long Beach fell 19.6% year over year in November for imports, exports, and empties combined. There was a bright spot, however, as exports grew 4%, the first increase since before the economic crisis began in the fall of 2009. Imports dropped 14.7%, and empties were down 41.3% from last year’s level.
The sharp drop in exports began in November 2008, the port said, and imports began to tumble in December 2008.
