Lufthansa Cargo is offering new destinations in the United States and southern Europe. Athens, Greece, has been added to the carrier’s freighter schedules. An MD-11F commenced a once-weekly flight on Thursdays from Frankfurt to Athens — from there, it will fly to Mumbai and Hong Kong. In addition, the Frankfurt - Istanbul - Frankfurt routing will be served five times a week after a short stoppage. On Saturdays, an additional stopover in Athens will be added to this route.

Starting August 20, an MD-11 will launch twice-weekly flights from Frankfurt to Seattle, Washington, on Thursdays and Saturdays. They will be routed through Seattle en route to Los Angeles.

Additionally Lufthansa Cargo is expanding its services to South America, offering a daily connection to Viracopos, Brazil. New flights on Mondays are also available to Bogota, Colombia, increasing the frequency of weekly flights to the southern coast of South America to three. An additional second stopover weekly in Curitiba will come into the timetable starting August 5.

“The newcomers to the network in Europe, the U.S. and South America will strengthen the position of Lufthansa Cargo in those markets and offer our customers attractive connections to strong growth regions,” observed  Bernhard Kindelbacher, Senior Vice President Network and Product Management at Lufthansa Cargo AG. “Moreover, they show how fast and flexibly we are harnessing opportunities in a difficult market environment so as to emerge from the crisis as a reliable and future-proof partner for our customers.”
